Ixia- how to make your holidays work

There are many resorts in Rhodes, boasting beautiful beaches and being onslaughted each year by tourists. They are : Ixia, Pefkos, Lindos, Haraki, Kolymbia, Tholos, Afandou, Trianta.

Ixia is without a shadow of a doubt a place where your eyes will not actually be able to tell you how many hotels you can see. You will also fail to count the tourists that crowd each and every corner of each and every beach there, soaking up with too much of suntan oil. There are plenty of possibilities of spending free time. Taking benefit from innumerable attractions of practising watersports, shopping, tasting typical dishes from Greek cuisine and also from any other cuisine of the world as local people try to cater for all the needs of their visitors.

If hordes of tourists do bother you and you do not feel like sharing your holidays with them you may go up the beach , on the way to Kremasti. There the atmosphere is a bit more peaceful and decidedly better for those seeking rest.

Each scholar from Ixia will tell you why this resort is so worth to be seen. And it is not due to its hotels but to Lalysos, the most important archeological site on the island located on the slopes of Filerimos, a hill. Remains of temple of Zeus and Athene Poliada can be found there. Ruins of Byzantine fortifications and a 14th  church of the Knights can be seen in Ixia. Most important for those whose faith is strong is the road to Golgothas surrounded by impressive shrines.
