Let’s continue with exploring connections of the name of the gorgeous island with other things in the world, that could hardly ever with Rhodes located in Mediterranean.

One of such things is Rhodes Memorial onDevil’s Peak in Cape Town, South Africa, is a memorial to English-born South African politician Cecil John Rhodes ( yes, it is the one to join with the scholarship)(1853-1902) designed by Sir Herbert Baker. The memorial is situated at Rhodes’s favourite spot on the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak. Rhodes’s own wooden bench is still situated below the memorial. The magnificent view facing northeast can be imagined as the start of the Cape to Cairo road, Rhodes’s imperial dream of a British colonial Africa which had Rhodes as one of its greatest champions.

There are also news from Australia where a chain of multiplex cinemas was created in recent years. It bears the name : Rhodes cinemas, yet one can hardly find movies about Rhodes in this cinema repertoire. It is a branch of a relaly huge cinema chain called Reading Cinemas, established in 1900< the company Reading Entertainment Inc exists since 1830>. The aim of the company is ‘to provide moviegoers with first-class cinematic experience, truly passionate movie enthusiasts may find their place in a Reading Golden Lounge venue that is equipped with a lounge bar, and according to freshest news , also a delicious light-meal menu. And of course: better place to watch movies.
