Rhodes Island is situated in the archipelago of Dodekanese <a group of 12 large and 150 smaller islands scattered among the peaceful waters of The Aegean Sea>. Though they are closer to Turkey than to Greece they are all Greek. All the islands boast a whole lot of Byzantine churches and mediaeval castles. Holidays spent in Rhodes just have to be a bit historic.
The island is actually divided into two so different parts: southern and northern one. All the better hotels and more popular and known tourist resorts are located in the northern part of the island. Small villages are usually hidden in the valleys created by neverending hills and mountains of Corfu: only there their inhabitants could feel truly safe. The location of the isalnd has always been a factor that made living there a bit dangerous: directly on the border between civilisations: Greek and islamic one.
As Rhodes is a truly popular tourist resort there are plenty of hotels to choose from while seeking for accommodation. The island is so famous because , as Greeks claim , it is blessed by gods: Helios, who caters for the warm sunshine, Poseidon who keeps the waters of the Aegean Sea clear and Eol, who provides good winds that bring refreshment during summer months as well as provide windsurfers with high spirits
